AACA Automobile Magazine Moon Article

It’s been a very good month for Moon related articles for the public to see. First, an article for the Truck Camper Magazine and now there is another Moon article has been published.

The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) published the Moon story in their Magazine for Jan/Feb 2022. This magazine is sent out to their 55,000+ members and I am very proud that we have a Moon article in such a great magazine.

The next stop is the AACA Grand Nationals & Zenith Judging in Virginia Beach, VA

Truck Camper / Moon Magazine Article

I wrote this article for Truck Camper Magazine and they published it on January 13, 2022 in their online magazine. It is all car related so I thought I would share it with you how I use my truck camper for car events and swap meets.

Jeff Buckley with his 2017 Travel Lite 625SL Truck Camper

I bought a Travel Lite 625SL so that I could close the tailgate and pull a 20-foot enclosed trailer with either one of my classic cars or a trailer lot of old car parts to car shows and swap meets.

Above: 2021 AACA Hershey, PA Swap Meet with my 1925 Moon Series A Roadster

It’s a great way to stay on my swap site with my car or car parts around me. No hotel for me! This means I primarily dry camp for three to eight days at a time, not including travel nights.

At some of the larger swap meets there are many campers, but very few truck campers. I have so many people ask about the truck camper that I carry along sales brochures to hand out. While most of the time I go by myself, I do take a car friend along to some of the events. I go all over the USA to these meets. When I am not doing this, I do tent camping as a Boy Scout Leader with our troop.

The Hershey AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America) swap meet in Pennsylvania during the fall is the granddaddy of all meets. Hundreds of thousands attend the event from all over the world.

Hershey Fall Swap Meet

I attend other national and regional car events that change venues each year as well. The Chickasha Oklahoma pre-war swap meet in the spring is another great event.

When traveling to and from events I am a big user of Walmart’s and other local parking spots to stay overnight. When I get tired, I just find a rest spot and take a quick snooze before traveling again. It’s a perfect setup for my needs and lifestyle. I couldn’t imagine it any other way.

Second Quarter Newsletter and 2021 Club Roster Mailed

I mailed the 2nd quarter newsletter and 2021 club roster out today. So look for them in the mail in the next week or so.

For the club members that regularly get their newsletters electronically I have mailed you the club roster in a smaller envelope.

For the club members that regularly get the printed newsletter, I have mailed your newsletter and the club roster in a larger envelope.

Please note that EVERYONE should look at their mailing label, upper right corner, to see the number 2021 or 2022. This number indicates what year your membership expires at the end of that year. We had over 35% of our membership take the 2 year renewal option this year so that they didn’t have to send in another check next year or have me chase them down to remind them to renew their membership. It’s a great way to not have to worry about renewing your membership each year. Regardless of whether you renewed one year or two years, I do appreciate your support of our club and I hope we can continue for many years to come.

Of special note, I want to thank Terry McBee, for creating another great membership roster cover. Two years ago we began a new series of roster covers by putting the models of the cars made by Moon 100 hundred years ago on the front cover. This makes the cover design easier for the next 10 years till 2030 and then we will have to pick up the 1906-1918 model years. So the membership roster cover is now educational and well as beautiful.

Also, don’t forget that the Members Only section has a new password. You can find it in the 2nd quarter newsletter. It is for club members only so please do not share the password with anyone else.

If you are not a club member but are interested in joining the Moon Car Club, please email us at MoonCarClub@gmail.com for more information.
