Moon Meet 2011

We just had a GREAT first meet of the Moon Car Club!!  Sixty-two people attended the dinner and meeting at the historic Feasting Fox in St. Louis.     Many folks brought Moon memorabilia, photos and literature to display.    We accomplished a lot at the business meeting, where we adopted the charter by-laws and elected officers.

Almost 80 people joined us on Sunday. The weather was beautiful as we toured two private collections where 13 Moon car owners displayed their cars.  Each owner told the background of how they acquired the car and restoration history.  Two prominent St. Louis TV stations did stories on the meet and Moon cars, which were on the evening news!   We had lunch at the lovely Blue Owl in Kimmswick, MO. Some relatives of Joseph Moon joined us for the weekend.  They were excited to get a ride in Gary Moon’s 1922 Touring and Wayne Nolan’s 1923 Touring.

We were also privileged to be joined by the current owners of the Joseph Moon home.  They invited us to tour their home after the garage tours.  Those who could join us drove out to the home and had a grand time exploring the three floors (including a ballroom!) of the former car company founder’s home.

The next annual meeting is being planned for April 2012 in St. Louis.  With the later date, we hope we can plan a driving tour with our Moons.  You won’t want to miss that so stay tuned for details as they develop.

Here are a few of the 1,000+ pictures that we took over the weekend. I will be updating the captions over the next few weeks so come back to see the changes. For those that attended the meeting that would like to send us 5-10 of their favorite pictures we will post those as well. Just email them to our email address

Also you may want to enjoy this link to our Fox network interview that was done on Sunday when we were viewing the cars.

The TV interview ran about 2 1/2 minutes and can still be seen at:,0,134318.story

  1. Many thanks go to Jeff, Ron, Gerry, their families and the car owners for an unforgettable weekend in St. Louis. Your outstanding efforts in organizing the Moon Car Meet are greatly appreciated.

Our Tennessee family thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. The exhibits were amazing, the auto rides exciting, the meals delicious, and the friendship couldn’t be matched. It was a pleasure, also, to visit Joseph Moon’s home.

My grandchildren had fun with Cole. Hopefully, our families can meet again someday in Nashville.

    Congratulations to the newly-elected officers.
