If you are planning to come to our Moon Meet in St. Louis in April you need to send in your reservations and money for the meet. If you didn’t receive the meeting notice (Club members only) please let us know at Mooncarclub@gmail.com and we will send you the details. Do it now before you forget!
Here is what is planned for the extended weekend:
First, we have a host hotel that is located in the southwest part of St. Louis county right on the old Route 66 route through St. Louis. It is centrally located for all our events for the meet.
While you can start off earlier on Thursday with some self-guided tours and sightseeing, we will officially kick-off with a “Meet & Greet” on Thursday night in the hospitality room at the host hotel. Light snacks, water and soft drinks will be provided.
Friday morning, we will head to Private Car Collection in the St. Louis area to see a High-end Classic Car Collection that is one of the best in the country.
We will then have lunch at a local restaurant before returning to the host hotel to prepare for our afternoon event.
The Friday afternoon event will include getting the Moons out on tour (weather permitting) to a nationally known frozen custard establishment—Ted Drewes.
Topping off Friday, we will be heading to Joseph Moon’s former mansion and enjoying a “Taste of St. Louis” dinner the home. We will enjoy some unique St. Louis cuisine in the third floor ballroom and take a tour of the house.
On Saturday, we will head over to the Museum of Transportation with our Moons. Our cars will be part of a special outdoor display of automobiles “Made In St. Louis—The Early Years” that will be open to the public. We will also have a chance to see the other car and train exhibits of the museum.
Included in the special display will be other automobiles that were manufactured in St. Louis such as the Dorris, Gardner, Saint Louis, and hopefully many others.
After we’ve had lunch and put away our Moons, we will proceed to the Mungenast Classic Motorcycle Museum in south St. Louis. Part of the museum is in the old Gamache Motors Moon dealership next door.
Saturday evening, our event will be at the Feasting Fox and it will be the venue for our members-only swap meet/Moon memorabilia display, dinner and annual Moon Club meeting.
Finally, on Sunday after breakfast, we will drive out to tour Jeff Buckley’s shop. We’ll see what “progress” has been made on the restoration of the Moons and share stories of other members’ recent restorations.
Afterwards, lunch can be on your own at the Blue Owl in Kimmswick, Missouri or you can head home.
That is the schedule for our 2012 Moon Meet in St. Louis. You must be a member of the Moon Car club in order to participate in these events at the meet and we need you to send in your reservations by NO LATER THAN March 15th for us to make a firm count.
